Director Robert Rodriguez has always been a big fan of Frazetta’s work (he even did a poster for From Dusk Till Dawn ), and now this week he has announced that he obtained the rights to Fire and Ice , the 1983 animated film that was directed by Ralph Bakshi and co-created by Frazetta. Rodriguez is now planning a live action remake, and here is what he had to say about it: “I’ve been inspired by his paintings since I was 10 years old back when I first saw those Bantam Books collections of his work …

It’s been rumoured for at least a few months now that Robert Rodriguez had been offered the director’s chair for Fox’s upcoming Deadpool movie. While no one seemed to want to confirm the story, it wasn’t all that hard to believe given that Rodriguez had just produced two films for Fox: Predators and Machete . Last week,...

Skip It Honestly, I had no idea that Ralph Bakshi’s animated take on The Lord of the Rings (1978) was coming to Blu-ray, so I was beyond intrigued when I found it sitting in my mailbox. I absolutely adored J.R.R. Tolkien’s trilogy growing up, yet for some reason, I never took the time to watch Bakshi’s bold attempt at bringing...

And while the rotoscoping technique isn’t favored by everybody (actors in costume were traced to create the animation) the result has now become a timeless classic. But I didn’t imagine...

There’s no real surprise here, or rather there’s some amount of relief, that Robert Rodriguez has walked away from the proposed production of The Jestsons, that futuristic version of The Flintstones. Not only that but the word was that Jim Carrey was being looked at to star in the film, and even he turned it down, a man who can make almost...

It was back in May 2007 that we heard The Osterman Weekend, the Robert Ludlum novel directed by Sam Peckinpah in 1983 was to be remade. Back then a director had been chosen, although he was a strong writer it was to be his directorial début. Since then there has been no news, until now. Word is that the remake is alive once again and that a new director...

It seems like the poor box office performance of Green Zone may be forcing Paul Greengrass to re-evaluate his career direction just a little bit. His next project won’t be anything even remotely political. It will, however, be an FX-driven blockbuster that fully embraces the new 3-D technology. Heat Vision reports that he has signed on to...

Sometimes you win one battle in Hollywood only to lose another.
