It seems that the Planet of the Apes remake is dead, well let’s say that the writer/director that was on the project is not on it any more. Mind you, that might not mean it’s dead, just dead with the current incarnation, if the studio are interested then they’ll keep it going and pick up the story with someone else….Visit Filmstalker for the full story. New Planet of the Apes film not dead?
It was thought that when the announcement came that Scott Frank had left the production of Ceaser, the new film in the Planet of the Apes series, that the film was over. Not so it would seem. The studio are apparently still moving ahead with the project, although it’s not clear if it’s Scott Frank’s version which turned away from...
Planet of Apes prequel director?
I honestly thought that we would never hear of this project again, a Planet of the Apes prequel seemed to be set to mess with the whole timeline of the Apes films to date which then was scrapped with the director leaving the project. However it kept going, and word was that major names were being approached to continue the film, working down some...
Oldboy remake dead again?
It wouldn’t take a betting person to place a bet on Hollywood never being able to remake Oldboy (Filmstalker review) , whatever the reason, but when Steven Spielberg and Will Smith were announced as being involved in the production, and more than that started seriously talking about moving it forward, I was flabbergasted. However it looks like...
Wanted 2 dead?
I’m slightly confused at this story, but apparently Wanted 2 is dead because Angelina Jolie isn’t wanting to return to the film, she’s chosen to make another project, and rather than rewrite the script without her, they’ve decided to drop the idea entirely and that kills the suggested trilogy dead. I really don’t understand...
Planet of the Apes: Caeser moving forward
Much more than moving forward, the planned prequel to the Planet of the Apes series is set to begin filming in July and the production offices for the film have opened. That means it’s really going to happen, and according to details it may not be a prequel of the original series. You’ll remember there was some confusion as to whether...
An American Werewolf in London remake still on?
Back in June of 2009 we heard the rumour that An American Werewolf in London was going to be remade, if John Landis let the rights go to the film, soon after we heard that had happened and the remake was going to happen. Then there was silence and we forgot all about it. Until today that is when a story revealed that a writer is now in talks to begin...
Fright Night remake gains director?
We’ve been hearing about a Fright Night remake since 2007, and in that time it’s been off and brought back to life again, with a new writer being assigned in November of last year. Now it looks as though we may be hearing about the director of the film. I say may because right now it’s only a rumour, but it’s a good rumour none...
Statham confirmed for The Mechanic remake
Way back in April 2009 the story appeared that Jason Statham was set to play the role that Charles Bronson once played in the remake of The Mechanic, and today it seems that the story is confirmed. To add to it there’s also word of who will be playing his character’s apprentice. You see Statham will be playing a highly trained hitman who...
Producer talks Fright Night remake
We’ve been hearing lot’s of wild, made up rumours about Fright Night, especially from one person, but so far there’s been nothing from the film itself, no word of what was happening with the remake of the superb Fright Night until now. Michael De Luca is a producer behind the film remake and has been speaking about the fears and the aspirations...
The Osterman Weekend remake
It was back in May 2007 that we heard The Osterman Weekend, the Robert Ludlum novel directed by Sam Peckinpah in 1983 was to be remade. Back then a director had been chosen, although he was a strong writer it was to be his directorial début. Since then there has been no news, until now. Word is that the remake is alive once again and that a new director...
