Another rumour, for there’s not much concrete coming out of Hollywood at the moment, is that James McAvoy is to be the actor to play Sir Ian Fleming, the man who created James Bond. From reading about it, this Ian Fleming project doesn’t appear to be either of the previous one’s we’ve heard about before, the Leonardo DiCaprio produced version nor the film about Fleming’s lover….Visit Filmstalker for the full story. Super Bowl teasers for Shutter Island, Brooklyn’s Finest and Robin Hood
There are two more Super Bowl teasers live on the Internet, and the videos are really here (I’m not just saying that) for both Shutter Island, Brooklyn’s Finest and Robin Hood, and they are both looking very powerful. Shutter Island is the Martin Scorsese film led by Leonardo DiCaprio and Brooklyn’s Finest is from Antoine Fuqua and...
Wicked the film
Back in 2008 we heard that Wicked was going to be made into a film, and now we’re hearing that the film is moving forward as the people behind the musical and the film version have been meeting directors, and it looks like this is going to be a big film if the directors names they’ve dropped turn out to be correct. JJ Abrams, James Mangold,...
Tennant playing against Isaacs and Newton
David Tennant is teaming up with, or possibly against, Thandie Newton and Jason Isaacs in a new psychological thriller called Retreat. It sounds a cool premise, think Dead Calm with Tennant playing the mysterious stranger, and it’s how Retreat is being pitched….Visit Filmstalker for the full story. Cameron’s Nagasaki-Hiroshima film to happen?
We heard that James Cameron and the author Charles Pellegrino met with Tsutomu Yamaguchi, one of the few people who was in both Nagasaki and Hiroshima during each of the atomic explosions and survived them both, to discuss making his, and the other survivors stories, into a film so that no one would ever forget. Now Pellegrino has been talking about...

Stallone playing crime family boss
I loved Sylvester Stallone in Cop Land, and it was a film that really opened my eyes to the fact that the guy could act, genuinely. A lot of people put it down to the fact that his character suited the actor, something I thought was rather insulting to the man and his talent. So when rumours arrive that he’s in serious talks to play the Gambino...
Third Avatar trailer online
I’m actually getting confused with the number of trailers out for films nowadays as there are more and more popping up online. This version for James Cameron’s Avatar is the Japanese version (not classed as an International by the U.S.) and there’s a little bit of new footage to it, and a slightly different focus and pitch. However...
Avatar sequel and DVD news
There’s a story out today that Rupert Murdoch has revealed that his company are in early talks with James Cameron to produce a sequel to Avatar (Filmstalker review), and while that’s interesting, I don’t think it’s surprising in the least. After all James Cameron himself said that he was considering a sequel, and if someone...
Eisner talks Flash Gordon
Breck Eisner directed Sahara, a fun romp but not a great film, and so I wasn’t enamoured when I heard he was helming Flash Gordon, even if it was one that went back to the original Gordon and ignored the camp film version. Now I’ve seen The Crazies (Filmstalker review) though, I’m thinking very differently, and I’m wondering...
